About

Why this city blog?

Whenever I arrive somewhere new – whether to live there, spend a vacation, or just some time – I always ask myself the same question: What now? I go online, search for things to do, and try to find ways to connect with locals. The problem is, I’m fairly introverted. I can’t just walk into the hotspot that ChatGPT or Google recommends and strike up a conversation with whoever happens to be there.

I think I’ve always been looking for someone to show me the ropes – someone to help me meet people. In Würzburg I was lucky enough to find those people. In other cities, that was difficult. Sometimes impossible.

I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this. There are a lot of people out there who arrive somewhere new and ask themselves: What now? And it hits even harder if you barely speak the language.

That’s what this blog is for. On one hand, I want to bring this city closer to people – show what’s here, what’s possible, what’s worth doing. On the other hand, I want to be the person who takes people by the hand a little. Helps them meet others. Points them to where those connections happen.

Because I’ve noticed there are more people in Würzburg than you’d think who are actively trying to meet new people and build their own little networks.

So let’s see where this goes – and how well I manage to bring people together, whether that’s on a hike, a city walk, or over drinks at a Stammtisch.
